First weekend with May

I shifted to a double bedroom with ensuite in the new building of Graduate House on Friday. It was so clean and new, with heaps of space for May and I. I spent the evening catching up with May over the things that have happened over the past 3 years!

On Saturday, I woke up to the sound of May moving around. "What time is it?" I grumbled.
"6:30..."
"What? Is there something wrong?"
"I think it's jet lag.... (giggle). Im going for a run.."

(I fell straight back to sleep)

After breakfast, we started on the schedule I have laid out for May and I for our weekend. After Jeff arrives next Friday, we would not have the freedom to "shop till we drop". We met up with Sabine, a Switzerland girl doing her elective in the same hospital as us, and conquered the Queen victoria market in 4.5 hours. After a nice lunch of homecooked fresh salmon and ham sandwiches, we had just enough energy for shopping at DFO where I bought this gorgeous lipstick red satin halter neck, knee length dress. It was on sale for less than 50% of its original price. I have decided Im going to wear this one to the graduation ball - It's gorgeous! By the end of the day, Sabine looked like her legs are about to collapse underneath her - I dont think she is used to Cindy's shopping style .. haha..

Below is a photo of May and Sabine in front of DFO.

Here is a photo of us in the tram.
Later that evening, the Spanish residents of Graduate House held a Spanish party with a Spanish drink - Red wine, vodka, apples and oranges which I could not taste any alcohol in - absolutely delicious.. and several spanish type finger foods. The party became slightly "naughty" as the Spanish dancing music got louder, and people drank more. I have returned back to my room with a pink face by that stage. May and I were quite exhausted from our day.

On Sunday, it was the day to conquer Richmond, Bridge Road. We arrived by 10, and didnt leave till 3:30. I bought another cute knee-high cream dress for only AU$20! And a thigh length bright red swing coat with white big buttons for AU$10!!! I looked like a doll - very adorable.. I think I can pull it off - although I would certainly stand out in the crowd.

Here is a photo of May in dilemma over which scarf to buy. My legs were aching by that stage of our shopping and so was sitting in a seat watching her. I really like this photo. It would look real nice in sepia and framed with black wood.
A nice photo of me in front of St Paul's church.

Here is another nice photo I took.
I have arranged to have dinner at an Italian restaurant on Lygon Street in the evening with more elective students. That street is known to be Melbourne's "Little Italy" with heaps of Italian restaurants. There, we met Carolina and Elizabeth who are from Germany. They spoke mostly German with Sabine - I hardly understood anything despite my effort to learn basic German this year. Shanu, an Indian guy from May's class was also here in Melbourne. It felt like we were back in NZ being amongst our classmates. Shanu is moving into Graduate house tomorrow for the 3 weeks he is here - so we will be hanging out together - representing OTAGO!

May is the Asian girl (Burmese) with short hair. Sabine is the tall dirty blonde girl.
I do miss New Zealand - actually now thinking about it, what do I miss about NZ that is not here in Melb? ooo.. Im going to miss Melb when I move to Hamilton. I guess at least Im close to Auckland so I can still enjoy the big city atmosphere.
